Clumping bamboo is also called `non-invasive` bamboo because of its short `clumping` rootball and low occurence of `runners` which are special roots that extend under soil and sprout upward as new bamboo plants. Clumping bamboo is perfect for a yard with small growing area and where you would like to avoid having runners extend beyond your perimeter.
