CURRENT RESTRICTIONS: Florida requires a $50 inspection for any plant shipments into their state. We automatically include this $50 in all Florida shipments. It will be included in the shipping charge when you checkout from our online store.

We generally ship within 2 weeks* of your order if you did not chose to hold your order. If you are three or less months away from your first frost, and did not request to hold your plant on the order form, you may want to request that we hold your plant order until Spring. If you have any questions, please contact us.

*March through July are our busiest months and there may be up to a 3-4 week delay on the shipment of your order. Please e-mail Bamboo Headquarters if you would like an estimate on when your bamboo will ship. Please also note that we top all of our online bamboo orders to 3-4 feet to ensure they fit in the box appropriately.

What is planting area?

Planting area is how many feet in diameter a particular type of bamboo needs to grow healthily. If you plant the bamboo in any less area than recommended, it may eventually kill the plant. Generally, bamboo needs at least 3 feet or more, per plant, to grow in a healthy manner. Planting area is displayed on the plant detail page for each plant.

What does #01, #02, #03, #05 size mean?

This number refers to the container size of a plant. We can ship #1 through #5 size plants via UPS. If you live in the Southern California area we have larger sizes available for delivery or pickup at the nursery. See photo below for an example of container sizes. Plant size varies depending on season, type of plant and other factors, and may not be represented accurately by the following photo. Size represents the container size and not necessarily the height of the plant you will receive.

What credit cards do you accept?

Is your online store secure?

All of the transactions on our site are encrypted to protect your payment information. Look for the small lock icon in your browser when checking out.

Our store is 256 bit encrypted. All transactions, at time of checkout, are sent over secure channels as required by PKI standards for online stores today.

Also, all credit card information is used only once for the transactions. The only information we keep is your contact information so we can supply you with tracking numbers and updated information. I am within three months of my first frost. Can I order now and have you hold it until it is warm enough to ship?

Yes! We will hold your order for up to 6 months. Please be sure to specify your last frost date when checking out.

How much is shipping?

To check shipping prices please put the items you wish to calculate into the shopping cart and then press “Shipping Estimator” enter your zip code to display how much we charge to ship to your state. Shipping is calculated directly through UPS.

How do you ship the bamboo?

We ship all of our plants via UPS. If you are beyond the four day ground zone, we will send your plants via UPS 3-day select. Plants and products are generally* shipped on the following Monday or Tuesday the order has been placed to ensure the package arrives to you the next week. In some cases we will not be able to ship the following week and will contact you if this is the case.

Other products are shipped UPS Ground. Keep that in mind when purchasing products such as rhizome barrier. There may be a delay between receiving your plants and your other purchases.

We are a licensed California nursery and ship according to USDA regulations. Certain states do not allow plants from California. We will ship to the lower 48 states.

*May through July are our busiest shipping time and shipments can be delayed as much as two or three weeks. Feel free to contact us any time to check the status of your order.

How do I place an order?

First you have to find the plant(s) you want. There are a few different ways to do so. If you know the name of the plant you want you can simply type it in the search field, in the upper right hand corner. You can also browse through using the categories on the left. If you are unsure on which type of bamboo you want you can use the “Bamboo Finder” page. Once you click here enter in your zip code (this allows us to find bamboos best suited to your location). This takes you to the advanced search page where you can enter in more information on what type of bamboo you like. Press search and check out all the bamboos that are perfect for you!

On the Plant Details Page there is a quantity field you can enter, and check out through our secure online store when you are ready. Don’t forget we have other merchandise such as Rhizome Barriers and great Bamboo Books and funny Gift Merchandise too!
